How to care for your linen garment ?
Linen is a premium, natural, and plant-based fiber, valued for its exceptional breathability, crisp texture, and effortless summer elegance. Because linen fibers are durable but lack natural elasticity, proper washing, gentle drying, and mindful iron care are essential to maintain its fluid drape, soften its feel, and prevent the fabric from becoming brittle over time.
Washing & Rinsing
- Wash your piece at a maximum of 40°C (104°F) on a gentle or delicate cycle. Always use a mild, liquid detergent and strictly avoid chlorinated bleaches or harsh optical brighteners, which weaken the flax fibers and fade natural tones.
- A thorough rinse in clean, cold water is the secret to clearing away all detergent residues, ensuring the fabric remains perfectly breathable and doesn’t develop a stiff or chalky texture.
Drying & Reshaping
- Always air dry linen naturally by hanging it or laying it flat in a shaded, well-ventilated space. Avoid direct, harsh sunlight, which can over-dry the fibers and make them stiff or prone to breaking.
- Ironing is highly recommended to celebrate its texture. Iron while the garment is still notably damp using a high-heat setting, or use a powerful garment steamer. Iron dark linen strictly on the reverse side to prevent any unwanted shiny patches.
Small actions that make a difference
Never wring out or twist linen forcefully before drying, as this sets deep, stubborn creases into the fabric
Avoid tumble drying on high heat; if necessary, use a short, low-heat cycle just to soften the fibers, then line dry
Always hang linen shirts, dresses, and blazers on wide, padded hangers to prevent shoulder distortion
Store your linen items in a dry, dark wardrobe; avoid plastic garment bags which can lock in humidity and cause yellowing
