How to care for your silk garment?
Silk is a luxurious, delicate, and naturally lustrous fabric. With the right care, it will retain its softness and beauty over time.
Washing
- Hand wash in cold water (maximum 20°C) using a mild detergent designed for delicate fabrics, or a gentle shampoo if needed.
- Do not soak for more than 5 minutes, and never rub the fabric. Instead, gently press it in the soapy water.
- Machine washing is generally not recommended, as it may weaken or alter delicate silk fibers. If used, only select a very gentle cycle designed for silk and place the garment in a protective laundry bag.
- Dry cleaning can be a suitable option for structured or tailored silk pieces.
Rinsing
- Rinse thoroughly in cold water to remove all detergent residue.
Drying
- Do not wring or twist the garment. Gently blot it with a clean towel to remove excess water.
- Reshape and dry flat on a clean towel, away from direct heat and sunlight. Hanging may be suitable for lightweight pieces, provided the garment is well supported and not prone to stretching.
Ironing
- Iron inside out at a low temperature, ideally while the fabric is still slightly damp.
- For extra protection, place a thin cloth between the iron and the silk.
Small actions that make a difference
Avoid direct contact with perfume or deodorant
Be careful with jewelry or bags that might snag the fabric
Store your garment away from light and dust, ideally on a hanger
When traveling, fold it gently to avoid deep creases
