How to care for your cotton garments?
Cotton is a natural, soft, and breathable fabric that’s particularly comfortable to wear every day. While easy to care for, it does require a few precautions to maintain its shape and softness over time.
Washing
- Cotton can generally be machine-washed. Opt for a 30°C cycle, which is gentler on the fabric and more environmentally friendly.
- For delicate, embroidered, or openwork items, select a delicate cycle and a gentle spin cycle.
- Use a mild detergent and avoid harsh products that could damage the fabric or fade the colors.
Drying
- Air-drying is recommended to preserve the shape and quality of the fabric.
- Tumble drying is possible for some items, but may cause slight shrinkage over time
Ironing
- Cotton can be ironed at medium to high temperatures, preferably while it is still slightly damp, for a crisp finish
Small actions that make a difference
Wash your clothes inside out to preserve the colors
Avoid overloading the machine for a more efficient wash
Opt for air drying to minimize wear and tear
For white items, avoid washing them with dark colors
To restore the brightness of white cotton, occasional sun-drying can be beneficial
