Since the beginning of Rouje, and even more so as we’ve expanded, we’ve been aware of the impact we can have on these key issues. Every day, we try to challenge and improve our ways of working. We are not perfect but we are constantly setting ourselves ambitious goals to do better, at our level. The road is long but here is already a first report of the actions we’ve put in place and of the ones to come.
We'll update this page frequently to share the progress of our team and partners with transparency.

82% of the pieces from our Spring-Summer collection of 2022 were produced from certified fabrics.

The Rouje Chart of Conduct, signed by all of our suppliers
A Chart of Conduct written by Rouje guarantees that our ateliers respect international working norms and animal well-being. 100% of our ateliers are committed to respecting these requirements.
Want to take a peek? It's this way !
We also verify that these norms are respected: today, on top of our regular inspections, 69% of our ateliers are audited by external and independent organizations.

91%
of our pieces are made in Europe or around the Mediterranean for Spring-Summer 2022. All of our suppliers are carefully selected for their expertise. Most of them have been working with us since the beginning.
See below where our Spring-Summer 2022 collection was produced:

The right quantities
We try as much as possible to produce the right quantities. That’s why we answer our customers’ needs by restocking during the season so as to avoid overproducing. This choice requires a lot of flexibility, from our internal teams as well as from our partners but this is one of our strengths.
72% of ground transportation
We try to limit our environmental impact by encouraging road transportation. Today, 72% of our pieces are transported by ground which allows us to reduce our carbon footprint.
A revolution on the packaging side
We used to receive every style in a polybag, before taking it off and carefully wrapping your order in silk paper. At Rouje, we decided to take a step toward sustainability with less waste and less plastic. From now on, this 100% recycled bag is the only thing used to protect your piece from our atelier to your closet. This bag helps us save 2 tons of plastic a year. All of our shipping packaging is also 100% recycled.

Upcycling and rehabilitation
In 2021, Rouje partnered with the ReCréateurs, a non-profit helping to rehabilitate women facing housing difficulties. In their Paris atelier, they create scrunchies using fabrics from past collections. A nice way to give a second life to these forgotten prints.
Our commitments for women
Rouje is also taking a stance for women. In 2020, a capsule collection was created from which all proceeds were donated to the Maison des Femmes de Saint Denis. In 2021, during the International Women’s Day, Rouje was able to finance an entrepreneurship mentoring program for 30 women, thanks to the non-profit Empowher. Today, Rouje renewed its support for La Maison des Femmes de Saint Denis: Jeanne Damas became their ambassador and this Spring Summer season, each collection offers one upcycled piece that will support their projects.

We’re aware that there’s still a lot to be done.
Here are the objectives we aim to reach by 2022:

In addition to the scrunchies and our committed dresses, we are currently developing other pieces from our fabric and leather scraps. Keep an eye out!

Our 2021 carbon footprint enabled us to identify which actions reduce our impact on the planet the most. See you next year for the 2022 footprint recap, on what evolved and what improved.

We are working on an environmental label for all our creations. Because we want you to be able to get their environmental impact in a single glimpse.
