How to care for your lyocell garment ?
Lyocell is a soft, fluid, and eco-friendly fabric, valued for its smooth drape, breathable nature, and gentle feel on the skin. While it is naturally strong and durable, a few simple steps will help preserve its beauty, color depth, and texture over time.
Washing
- Wash your piece at a maximum of 30°C (85°F) on a delicate or wool cycle. Use a mild, eco-friendly liquid detergent and avoid bleaching agents or fabric softeners, which can coat and dull the fibers.
- Wash inside out and preferably in a mesh laundry bag to protect the smooth surface from friction with other garments.
Rinsing
- A thorough rinse in cold water is the secret to removing all detergent residues, preserving the natural breathability and the clean, smooth finish of your lyocell piece.
Drying
- Air drying flat or on a hanger out of direct sunlight is best. Tumble drying is highly discouraged, as the heat can cause the fibers to shrink, stiffen, or lose their signature softness.
Ironing
- Lyocell can stiffen slightly when wet but completely regains its suppleness once dry and lightly pressed. Iron your piece inside out on a low to medium heat setting, or use a gentle garment steamer to easily release wrinkles.
- Dry cleaning is also an option, particularly for structured or tailored lyocell garments.
Small actions that make a difference
Avoid the tumble dryer to prevent shrinkage and preserve the fabric's fluidity
Choose a gentle spin cycle (maximum 600-800 RPM) to reduce deep creasing
Shake the garment out and hang it immediately after washing to encourage natural wrinkle release
Always iron inside out to prevent any shiny marks on the fabric surface
Follow the care instructions on the label, especially for pieces blending multiple fabrics
